Accessibility

We want everyone to be able to use HeySales, whether you use a mouse, a keyboard, a screen reader, voice control or a magnifier. This page says what helps, what doesn’t work well yet, and how to get round it.

  • Pages have a main heading and a heading for each part of them, so you can move by headings.
  • The menu down the side is a navigation landmark, and each page’s content is the main landmark. See Find your way around.
  • Tabs, such as Contacts and Companies under CRM, are links or buttons that say which one is current.
  • On most of the newer screens, such as automation, service, marketing and settings, focus moves to the heading when you open a record or save a new one, so a screen reader starts reading from there.

Where HeySales shows numbers, the newer screens put them in a table with a caption, and any chart repeats the table for people who read by sight. Custom reports work this way, and are the best place to get figures with a screen reader.

Most fields have labels, and related choices are grouped with a name. On the newer screens, if something you entered can’t be saved, the message is announced and says what to change. The gaps we know about are listed below.

Some older screens still have problems. Here they are, with a way round each where there is one.

  • Moving a deal to another stage only works by dragging on the board. There’s no keyboard way yet. On Pro, you can ask the AI assistant to move a deal.
  • The calendar’s week and day views can’t be reached with a keyboard, and some of their buttons have no names. Use the Month view, or Tasks for your to-do list.
  • Some windows aren’t announced as dialogs, so focus doesn’t move into them: adding a deal, a pipeline or a product, notes, and some delete confirmations. After opening one, move forward with Tab or your screen reader’s next-item command to find it.
  • Some icon buttons have no names, such as some close buttons and buttons on narrow screens. Widening the window often shows their words.
  • The Reports tab’s charts have no text version. Use Custom reports instead.
  • Choosing a file to import can’t be reached with a keyboard. Importing from Google can.
  • Reordering form fields only works by dragging.

On narrow screens and when zoomed in, the layout changes to fit, and the side menu moves behind the Open menu button.

Every picture in this guide is described in words, and everything the steps need is in the text too, so you don’t need to see the pictures. The guide follows your device’s light or dark setting, and its theme menu changes it.
